May 13, 2014, New York, NY.
The Law Office of Tina Foster today announced that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui has filed a legal case seeking to overturn her September 23, 2010 conviction by a U.S. federal court. Though Dr. Siddiqui has always maintained her innocence and there was no physical evidence to support the charges against her, Dr. Siddiqui was convicted of attempted murder while she was being interrogated by U.S. personnel at a police station in Ghazni, Afghanistan. In documents filed today under seal in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Dr. Siddiqui argues that her conviction and sentence should be vacated because the prosecution withheld crucial evidence, and that she was denied her constitutional right to counsel.
The case argues that the U.S. government illegally withheld evidence that Dr. Siddiqui and her three small children were abducted from Karachi, Pakistan in 2003 and secretly detained, interrogated and tortured in U.S. and Pakistani custody for five years prior to her arrest in 2008. Among other evidence, exhibits filed with the case include a transcript of an audio recording in which a senior Pakistani police official, Imran Shaukat, admits to his involvement in Dr. Siddiqui’s abduction from Karachi, Pakistan in March 2003. A link to the full audio recording in Urdu/Punjabi is available at the following URL:
http://www.ijnetwork.org/report/IJNetworkTape.WAV.

Dr. Siddiqui also argues that she was denied her right to counsel because the judge forced her to be represented by attorneys that were not acting in her interest. The attorneys, who were paid $2 million by the Government of Pakistan, were permitted to enter the case and manage Dr. Siddiqui’s defense over her repeated objections. Though Dr. Siddiqui informed her trial attorneys that she had been in detention from 2003-2008, they did not present the information to the judge or jury at trial.
Dr. Siddiqui is currently serving an 86-year prison sentence at a U.S. federal prison at FMC Carswell in Fort Worth, TX. She is unable to speak with the media due to prison restrictions, but is presently represented by attorneys Tina Foster and Robert Boyle, both of whom stand in solidarity with the international community in condemning Dr. Siddiqui’s unfair trial and sentence.
“The evidence presented in today’s lawsuit demonstrates not only that Dr. Siddiqui did not receive a fair trial and was wrongfully convicted, but also sheds a bright light on the violations of Dr. Siddiqui’s fundamental human rights by the governments of the United States and Pakistan,” says Foster. “Despite the grotesque torture and abuse perpetrated against Dr. Siddiqui and her children, she has never advocated violence or revenge,” Foster added, “she wishes nothing more than to return to Pakistan where she can be reunited with her children and live in peace.”

Lady of this physique is facing 86 years sentence in USA jail for snatching gun from more than one USA marine soldiers during her arrest in Afghanistan. In the process she left no finger print on the gun (as accepted by FBI official) and got shot herself.

The main allegations on her for which she was abducted (or at least CIA/ISI/FBI spread these allegations through their pets in media) were never presented in the court as they didn’t have presentable evidence. These allegations were:

1- Links with Al-Qaida
2-Invovlvement in activities like Blood Diamonds

After looking at Brian Banks case, one can easily see how much jury can be influenced by alien appearance of the person presented in front of them. Even for many Pakistani pseudo liberals or social class fascists, her head scarf and affection with religion are enough to declare her terrorist.

In Brian Banks story, he was made to go for no-contest in an allegation of rape to face less sentence as opposed to 41 years imprisonment. According to recent evidence he didn’t commit the rape. He  had to go for no-contest because his lawyer suggested that if he goes for contesting the case, the jury will see him as a big black guy and will be automatically considered as guilty.

Aafia Siddiqui Issue–>Shameful attempt by some anchors to give it another twist using the same old nationality rant

Recently some anchors, including reputed anchor like Kamran Khan (Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Sath host) and not so reputed anchor Sana Bucha (Lekin host), have tried to show that Aafia Siddiqui is an American national or she is a dual national. Aafia’s family has repeatedly denied these allegations. It was also interesting to see that how an international lawyer like Ahmer Bilal Sufi (also affiliated with PILDAT) didn’t discuss the real aspect of the case i.e. her abduction and reasons behind her abduction.

My views on this issue are that dual national or not, the reality is that she was illegally abducted from Pakistani soil and she was a daughter of a Pakistani family. This is a ridiculous argument again trying to cash in false nationalism over single nationality or dual nationality which is not proved and most importantly was never contested in USA court in fake Afia trial. They also didn’t discuss the main accusation on the media on her i.e. her links with Al-Qaida as they didn’t have enough grounds for that. Shame on these social class fascists.

How can you allow someone to be abducted without due process if that person (national or not) has entered legally in Pakistan? The case on her was prosecuted for a stupid charge that she snatched gun from USA marines and then in the process got shot herself. No finger prints were there on the gun as was admitted by US official who gave the testimony in the case.

Apparently the momentum is being created to make a ground for the release of Dr. Shakeel afridi.

It is really shameful how things are being presented in the media. Either it is an act or irresponsibility and lack of prudence or lack of honesty, in both cases media organizations should see the professionalism standard of their anchors and opinion makers. Civil society should raise the issue on any forum.

Who is Aafia Siddiqui’s husband? Majid Khan or Ammar al-Baluchi? –> More US media lies and deceptions on the issue.

Just read a news on reuters about aafia siddiqui, 5 feet week lady, allegedly linked with al-qaida and serving 86 years imprisonment for snatching a gun from 3 strong marines in prison and in the process getting herself shot without having any finger prints on the gun (according to trial reports and testimony of fbi agent in the court). First USA media was saying Ammar Al-Baluchi is Aafia’s husband and now they are saying Majid Khan is her husband? We also need an open trial in Pakistan to see who is her husband? It seems they are not consistent in their 9/11 lies and deception.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/15/us-usa-guantanamo-idUSTRE81E01220120215?feedType=RSS&feedName=pakistan&virtualBrandChannel=10165&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&dlvrit=59231

Even the bogus wikipedia entry on her still says Al-baluchi as her husband and many US media sources of that time (though her family denies any of these reports). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aafia_Siddiqui

Justice, humanity and peace loving people in USA should raise their voice on the issue.

Something relevant to current times, written in Nazi days by Pastor Martin Niemoller :

First they came for the communists,

and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,

and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,

and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Update : Reuters have recognized their mistake and have now edited the story with a note at the end : (In para 12, removes incorrect description of Aafia Siddiqui as Khan’s wife; she is not his wife)

Reports of Afia Siddiqui getting cancer and pregnant due to sexual abuse–>This case is enough to say that ISI is trash

Afia Siddiqui case is alone enough to say that ISI is like a truck of filthy garbage and must be grounded for sure. They have got too much authority to sell the country and its people. These morons are good for nothing. The best scenario for Pakistan will be if these feudal-corporatist and Khaki ruling elite keep fighting with each other and destroy each other. Then a new Pakistan can emerge out of it , more free, more justice-loving and more prosperous.

Below is a news report stating some shameful things which also tells us about the hypocritical justice system of United States of America. The details may be a bit exaggerated or some of the details might not be as they are but over all context is disturbing about her condition and her family facing problems to find details about her. But the main culprit is ISI as I don’t expect miracles from USA marines or security institutions.

We hope that people with sense of justice and humanity will stand up in United States of America and will raise their voice against this injustice.

Dr Afia Siddiqui gets pregnant, contracts cancer in US jail

By

Karachi: Pakistani scientist Dr Afia Siddiqui, who is serving 86-year imprisonment in a US prison cell, has contracted cancer and allegedly become pregnant as a result of sexual abuse during her confinement.

Talking to The News Tribe, her sister Dr Dr Fouzia Siddiqui said she had come to know through Pakistani Consul General in Houston that Dr Afia Siddiqui had been diagnosed with a cancer. She added that earlier there were reports that the Pakistani scientist had become pregnant due to alleged sexual abuse during imprisonment. However, the Pakistan Embassy has not playing its role in either confirming or rejecting the reports.

She said that former Pakistan Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani was called back the next day when he told us the condition of Dr Afia.

She quoted Pakistan Consul General Aqil Nadeem as saying that he was requesting the jail authorities for providing medical facilities to the Pakistani scientist.

Dr Fouzia said keeping in view the reputation of the Roswell jail and the nature of her sister’s disease the request was insufficient.

She urged the Pakistan Embassy to arrange a team of physicians comprising doctors from jail as well as from private sector for Dr Afia Siddiqui.

Dr Fouzia said that newly-appointed Pakistan Ambassador to US Sherry Rehman had assured her all possible help before leaving for America to take up her new assignment. However, despite making contact with her, the envoy has not given any response in this regard.

Speaking about the reports of Dr Afia’s alleged pregnancy, she said that her family was told about it after the Pakistani scientist showed some symptoms in the women jail.

Dr Fouzia appealed to the US and Pakistani authorities to arrange a telephonic conversation of her mother with Dr Afia.

Earlier, British journalist and human rights activistYvonne Ridley had declared the long punishment of Dr Afia as just ‘one step away from death’.

Talking about attitude of Pakistani politicians being adopted on the Dr Afia issue, she said that she would not believe in their statements until and unless her sister returns to Pakistan. Dr Fouzia complained that the politicians had only exploited the Dr Afia issue just to gain political mileage.

She said that the Pakistani scientist had been provided substandard food, which led to health problems at the jail as she had complained of it during her earlier telephonic conversations.

According to Pakistani TV anchor Aamir Liaquat Hussain, he had received information from his friends in the US that Dr Afia had contracted cancer and will be killed during confinement.

The renowned anchor said that the Pakistani scientist can be brought back through diplomatic efforts.

In a video uploaded on Youtube, Hussain said that Dr Afia had become pregnant as a result of sexual abuse in jail.

The News Tribe, a UK-based bilingual news website has approached Pakistan Ambassador to US Sherry Rehman through an email to get her point of view on the issue but received no response till the filing of this news.

Here are some updates with clarification from Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui (Aafia’s sister).

——————————————————————-

Dr Fowzia Clarification about Aafia Pregnancy News.

Dr. Aafia Siddiqui Pregnancy News a Misunderstanding but  Cancer Allegation a Cause For Concern issued by Dr.Fowzia Siiddiqui.

The  Aafia Movement  are issuing the following clarification in light of recent statements circulating in the Pakistani media that Dr Aafia Siddiqui has contracted is pregnant as a result of sexual abuse whilst in custody, and that she has cancer.

In early November 2011, Aafia’s family received disturbing reports that Dr Siddiqui had become pregnant whilst imprisoned in HMC Carswell and that she had undergone a forced abortion and was subsequently hemorrhaging profusely.   Around the same time, former Pakistan ambassador to the US, Husain Haqqani informed the family that the embassy had received a letter complaining of   health problems and ill treatment at Carswell.  The information suggested that Dr. Siddiqui’s health problems were the result of  cancer.  After informing Aafia’s family of her letter from Carswell, Ambassador Haqqani was recalled to Pakistan.

The Pakistani Consul General in Houston has since informed the family that Aafia is not pregnant.   However, the embassy has not denied the cancer report.

A request has been made by the Pakistan Consul General Aqil  Nadeem to the governor of FMC  Carswell to provide medical facilities to DrAafia, but there is little guarantee that She will receive adequate treatment, given the prison’s well documented scandalous abuse and medical neglect of its inmates.  Over a hundred inmates have reportedly died under ‘questionable circumstances’ at the facility, there have been numerous cases of sexual abuse and rape perpetrated by prison staff – amongst them, the guards, chaplains and physicians. Multiple accusations of gross medical negligence towards cancer patients many of whom died after being denied treatment.

Our family has requested independent  and impartial medical board to evaluate the condition as forced medical exam from prison staff  would probably be worse torture as well as definite conflict of interest.

Raymond-Dr Aafia trade-off rejected –> The News

Its a good thing that family of Dr. Aafia, another victim of international state terrorism and human rights violations , has shown sense of justice and are not falling to their natural desire of having their daughter back at any cost. I hope our fake liberals can learn some lessons from this.
We also need to know that US embassy is also hiding other murderers and these are those who crushed the third victim under their vehicle.

ISLAMABAD: While there is a growing demand in Pakistan after the Lahore incident that the American killer should be exchanged for Dr Aafia Siddiqui as a few parliamentarians have also raised this demand, the sister of Dr Aafia says that Raymond Davis has killed three Pakistanis and blood of Pakistani nationals cannot be forgiven in return for an innocent Aafia.

Dr Fauzia Siddiqui, in an exclusive chat with The News from Karachi, said that Davis was a killer and after meeting the heirs of the deceased youth, Aafia’s family can never imagine to forgive the blood of Pakistanis against repatriation of Aafia.

She mentioned that first Aafia should be brought home with respect then the government should think of dealing the case of Davis with the Americans. “Aafia has not killed anyone; therefore, we can not demand exchange of an innocent lady with a double murderer,” said Dr Fauzia, adding that it was the time for government to negotiate with Americans regarding respectful repatriation of Dr Aafia.

She said that Aafia has been jailed for a falsely carved crime in Afghanistan whereas Davis was a daylight killer, so we should not compare the crimes of both of them. “Government should bring Americans on negotiating terms regarding Aafia; otherwise, these rulers will be kicked off from their palaces by the people of Pakistan if they handed over Davis to America.”

Dr Fauzia said that she has met the families of the three deceased youths of Lahore and after looking at the condition of mothers of those three boys, she could not demand for forgiving the blood of Pak nationals rather David should be punished under the penal law of the country for the crime which the has committed. On the other hand, a few parliamentarians have raised their voice for exchange of Davis for Dr Aafia and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf vows to establish a fund for the legal heirs of the three youths who were killed by American so that those families should not compromise on money with US. Fakhar Chathha, President PTI Traders-Wing, while talking to this correspondent said that Pakistan should make a simple deal with US: “Give us our innocent Aafia and take your double murderer Davis.” He mentioned that time has come for Pakistan to take a stand before the Americans, otherwise, world will curse on us.

He said that his party is ready to establish a fund for the heirs of three deceased youths of Lahore so that they should not accept American offer of money against blood rather ask for the extradition of Dr Aafia from America in return of Davis. It is worth mentioning here that the PTI is the only political party in the country, which has stage protests regarding American killing in Lahore. Even the protesters were baton charged in Islamabad when they tried to enter the red zone to get their protest registered in front of US embassy.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan’s ex-Chairman Iqbal Haider on Geo TV said that Dr Aafia has not killed any person, and the way she was produced before the American court was also condemnable. “On the other hand Davis has killed three people in broad daylight, yet immunity is being sought for the killer,” the lawyer said. He mentioned that Aafia has been sentenced for 86 years, which was again cruel whereas America wants a killer to be free. On the other hand, an SMS campaign to exchange Aafia for Davis has already started, and cyber groups, like OSAPK, have launched campaigns for Davis for Aafia.

News below has the official position of Punjab government on Raymond issue, lets see how much sincere they are with their wordings on the issue. But another important thing for fake liberals and opportunists in our country is the discussion on Aafia’s citizenship status.
In the program reported in the news below , detailed court verdict of US court is mentioned in which Aafia is mentioned as a Pakistani citizen.

ISLAMABAD: The Law Minister of Punjab, Rana Sanaullah, rejected all the reports that US citizen Raymond Davis will be released soon on the US pressure. He said clearly that the fate of Davis will be decided only and only by the Pakistani courts, like US courts decided the fate of a Pakistani citizen Dr Aafia Saddiqui.

On the other hand, the family of Dr Aafia Saddiqui has closed the debate of her nationality once for ever. Mother of Dr Aafia showed three Pakistani passports of her daughter in Capital Talk of Geo News on Monday night and claimed that Dr Aafia did not have even a US green card. Rana Sanaullah and mother of Aafia were talking to Hamid Mir in Capital Talk.

Hamid Mir asked question about the possibility of double nationality of Dr Aafia, but her mother Ismat Saddiqui showed a US visa on the last passport of Dr Aafia which was expired on February 3, 2008. She said that US visa can only be issued to a non-US citizen.

Sister of Dr Aafia read some parts of the US court verdict against Dr Aafia, in which it was clearly said that Dr Aafia is a 38 years old Pakistani citizen. Dr Fauzia Saddiqui said that the arrest of her sister from Afghanistan was also a violation of international law because Dr Aafia was not provided any consular access.

The Executive Director of the South Asia Strategic Stability Institute, Maria Sultan, said that US violated international law by arresting a Pakistani citizen Aafia from Afghanistan because the two countries have no extradition treaty.

Former Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokhar said that Raymond Davis is a killer; he does not enjoy any diplomatic immunity. Riaz Khokhar said that arrival of suspicious US citizens in Pakistan was started in Musharraf era. Once Riaz Khokhar objected to the arrival of a secret US flight in Pakistan. The ISI also endorsed the view of Foreign Office, but President Musharraf over ruled their objections.

Host of Capital Talk aired the last statement of Shamaila, who committed suicide on Sunday in protest of VIP status given to Raymond Davis. Human Rights activist Tahira Abdullah said that nobody in the government will listen to the last plea of Shamaila because US dollars will work, but Rana Sanaullah disagreed. He said that days of military dictators have passed now, and only the courts will decide the fate of Raymond Davis.

Injustice In The Age of Obama –> Cindy Sheehan, published in Aljazeera

An interesting article of how lies are made and presented as truth. Our so called liberals should read this who out of their sectarian and social-class prejudice can’t think freely and justly.

The treatment of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is symbolic in the minds of many Muslims. Her treatment has caused more damage to US-Muslim relations (particularly in Pakistan) than any ‘soft power’ state department program could undo

Since being the defendant in about six trials after I was arrested for protesting the Iraq and Afghanistan occupations, it’s my experience that the police lie. Period.

However the lies don’t stop at street law enforcement level. From lies about WMD and connections to “al Qaeda,” almost every institution of so-called authority – the Pentagon, State Department, CIA, FBI, all the way up to the Oval Office and back down – lie. Not white lies, but big, Mother of all BS (MOAB) lies that lead to the destruction of innocent lives. I.F Stone was most definitely on the ball when he proclaimed, “Governments lie”.

Having clarified that, I would now like to examine a case that should be enshrined in the travesty of the US Justice Hall of Shame.

In February of this year, Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani mother of three, was convicted in US Federal (kangaroo) Court of seven counts, including two counts of “attempted murder of an American.” On September 23, Judge Berman, who displayed an open bias against Dr. Siddiqui, sentenced her to 86 years in prison.

The tapestry of lies about Dr. Siddiqui – a cognitive neuroscientist, schooled at MIT and Brandeis – was woven during the Bush regime but fully maintained during her trial and sentencing this year by the Obama (in)Justice Department…

Tortured ‘truth’

There is some disputed “intelligence” that Aafia had married KSM’s nephew, a tenuous allegation at best, and even so, guilt by association has no place in the hallowed US legal system.

Following KSM’s torture-induced ‘insights’, Dr. Siddiqui was listed by Bush’s Justice Department as one of the seven most dangerous al-Qaeda operatives in the world. A mother of three equipped with a lethal ability to ‘thin-slice’ your cognitive personality in seconds. If alleged association and a healthy interest in neuro-psychology are the definitive hallmarks of a ‘terrorist operative,’ then Malcolm Gladwell better start making some phone calls to Crane, Poole and Schmidt.

A culture of falsehoods

In any case, in a bizarre scenario – to make a very long story short – Dr. Siddiqui and her three children disappeared for five years from 2003 to 2008, resurfacing in Ghazni, Afghanistan with her oldest child, a son who was then 11. She claimed that for the years she was missing, she was being held in various Pakistani and US prisons being tortured and repeatedly raped. Many prisoners, including Yvonne Ridley, maintain she was incarcerated in Bagram AFB and tortured for at least part of the five missing years.

After Dr. Siddiqui resurfaced, she was arrested and taken to an Afghan police station where four Americans – two military and two FBI agents – rushed to “question” her through interpreters. The FBI and military, claim that they were taken to a room that had a curtain at one end and that they did not know that Dr. Siddiqui was lying asleep on a bed at the other side of the curtain. As you read below it will become blatantly obvious that personnel involved from both institutions totally fabricated their stories.

This is the Americans’ version: They entered the room and one of the military dudes said he laid his weapon down (remember, they were there to interrogate one of the top most dangerous people in the world), and Siddiqui got up, grabbed the weapon, yelling obscenities and that she wanted to “kill Americans.” All 5’3″ of her raised the weapon to fire and she fired the rifle twice, missing everyone in the small room – in fact she even missed the walls, floor and ceiling since no bullets from the rifle were ever recovered.

Then one of the Americans shot her twice in the stomach “in self-defence.” It was shown at the trial that her fingerprints were not even on the weapon. The only bullets that were found that day were in Dr. Aafia’s body. How many stories of military cover-ups have we heard about since 9/11? I can think of two right away without even trying hard: Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch.

Hopeless injustice

Dr. Aafia’s side is this: After she was arrested, she was again beaten and she fell asleep on a bed when she heard talking in the room she was in so she got out of the bed and someone shouted: “Oh no, she’s loose!” Then she was shot – when she was wavering in and out of consciousness, she heard someone else say: “We could lose our jobs over this.”

Even with no evidence that she fired any weapon, she was convicted (the jury found no pre-meditation) by a jury and sentenced to the aforementioned 86 years.  It’s interesting that the Feds did not pursue “terrorist” charges against Dr. Siddiqui because they were aware that the only evidence that existed was tortured out of KSM – so they literally ganged up on her to press the assault and attempted murder charges.

Even if Dr. Siddiqui did shoot at the Americans, reflect on this. Say this case was being tried in Pakistan under similar circumstances for an American woman named Dr. Betty Brown who was captured and repeatedly tortured and raped by the ISI – here in the states that woman would be a hero if she shot at her captors – not demonized and taken away from her life and her children.

I believe Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is a political prisoner and now the political bogey-woman for two US regimes.

In Pakistan, the response to her verdict and sentencing brought the predictable mass protests … and calls for Pakistan to repatriate Dr. Siddiqui. They know who the real criminals are and who should be in prison for life! At present, Hilary’s state department harps on about ‘soft power’ and diplomacy, but what better way to quell US distrust in the Muslim world than to try such cases with due diligence and integrity.

In the US, not many people know about this case. Obviously many people were Hope-notized by the millions of dollars poured into the Obama PR machine – and believed when he said that his administration would be more transparent and lawful than the outlaws of the Bush era.

I guess they were mistaken.

Cindy Sheehan is the mother of Specialist Casey A. Sheehan, who was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004. Since then, she has been an activist for peace and human rights.

Hypocrite, coward Musharraf blows hot air but will never return–>Ansar Abbasi article in TheNews

Source :  http://www.thenews.com.pk/02-10-2010/National/7849.htm

By Ansar Abbasi

ISLAMABAD: Musharraf, you are a hypocrite. You are the Abdullah Bin Ubai of our times. Each and every word that you have uttered on the occasion of launching of your party, sounded simply hollow because your dirty past is like an open book before us. We hate you for what you did to our country, our people and our brothers in Islam.

It is unbelievable that a man like this ageing commando, whose stink cannot be avoided from even thousands of miles, because of his tainted past and whose long list of crimes against Pakistan, its people and humanity have no limit, had the cheeks to promise a great future like his past, as if we lived in heaven during his tenure.

Pervez Musharraf’s remarks show that the self-exiled ousted dictator continues to live under the illusion as if he is still an extra-constitutional ruler of this country and perhaps the most popular leader here. One wishes that such illusions go on with him to enable him to come to Pakistan and face the trial for his long list of crimes, some of which conspicuously include the abrogation of Constitution, the selling of Pakistani nationals including the country’s daughter Dr Aafia Siddiqui to America for dollars, the Lal Masjid massacre, Nawab Akhbar Bugti’s murder, the May 12, 2007 bloodshed, removal and arrest of respected independent judges of the superior judiciary, strangulation of the Pakistani media and his post-9/11 policies that compromised the country’s sovereignty and led to all-time high US interference in our internal affairs.

How can he raise the slogan of “Pakistan first” when for his own self and to perpetuate his rule, he first toppled an elected government in Oct 1999 and then imposed extra-constitutional emergency in Nov 2007 and removed all independent judges? How can he promise the moon to the people in future when he did not produce even one single watt of electricity, constructed no dam, did nothing to ameliorate the lot of the poor, politicise the bureaucracy like never before during his nine-year misrule?

How can a man like Musharraf talk of the Quran and the Sunnah when he orchestrated the massacre of Lal Masjid and killed hundreds of innocents, sold the Muslims including our own nationals, including Aafia Siddiqui, became a part of the US’s so-called war on terror, facilitated the killing of hundreds of thousands of Afghan innocents, changed the Islamic syllabi to the pleasure of his foreign masters and proudly mention all this shame in his autobiography
— ‘In The Line of Fire’?

Musharraf struck with Benazir Bhutto’s world-infamous NRO deal just to stick to power for five more years. It created turmoil and chaos in the country and the nation is facing its repercussions today. This deal has given boost to corruption in our country.

Musharraf is welcome to Pakistan. His illusions would turn into disillusions as soon as he arrives back. Expecting a sea of people welcoming him upon his return, he may find himself behind the bars. No matter from where he gains the strength, the people of Pakistan want to see him punished for the crimes he committed. Our disappointment from the present rulers, do not make Musharraf a choice of future. He tenders an apology for what he called his past mistakes but we demand his trial under Article 6 of the Constitution and other offences that he committed. A day before the launching of his party, he warned that the country is at risk of a new military coup and suggested the recipe of the Army’s constitutional role in politics. He termed it the only solution if Pakistan wants stability and a system of check and balances in democratic structure.

Instead of being ashamed of what he did in the past and how he misused the institution of the Army and the military led intelligence agencies, including the MI and ISI, to strengthen his misrule at the cost of the national interest, Musharraf has set his eyes on the military under General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani to get a strong shoulder for his re-entry into the Pakistani politics.

It took General Kayani one full term, three years, to redeem the lost respect of Pakistan Army but now the retired general is alluring the military to help him getting to the corridors of power from backdoor, which has been his hallmark in the past, too.

Only an insane person can shout for a constitutional role of the Army to run democracy. But by saying such freakish things, this ageing military commando wants to hit the headlines back home and to create his soft corner in the institution of Pakistan Army that he grossly misused to prolong his dictatorial rule.

Perhaps he does not realize that a lot of water has flown down the bridges. He also does not realise that he has not many takers, whether among civvies or in the khakis. But the old man has gone crazy. Nature will take its course if he returns to Pakistan, but despite the hot air that he blew in London, he is a coward and will never dare to do so.

Aafia’s sentencing–> A question mark over USA justice system; Shame for Pakistan Army and Government

Dr. Aafia Siddiqi, mother of three children who was kidnapped from Karachi in 2003 by USA and Pakistani agencies, is sentenced for 86 years.

The charge is that this 5 feet weak woman  attacked well trained US marines by snatching their rifles and in the process no one was shot except Aafia herself.

All the principles of justice like innocent till proven guilty, fair defense and unbiased decision making were destroyed in the case by US judge , members of jury and the US government. They were well supported by Pakistani government and agencies in the fake trial.

The decision leaves a question mark on the justice system of USA and its effectiveness to protect human rights. USA civil society needs to think over it if they have some conscience as this can happen with them too.

This decision is a Shame for Pakistan Army, Agencies and Government especially the Pentagon Pet Dictator Musharraf and his junta. They not only sold Aafia but hundreds like her and sold their motherland to their imperialist masters for serving their greed and lust for power.

May Allah give justice to Aafia and bring to justice those who were involved in doing this with her.

Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s Sentencing :: Please Show Your Support

On September 23rd, 2010 at 500 Pearl Street in lower Manhattan, a mother, teacher and sister will stand in front of a New York City judge for her sentencing. Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is a woman whose life events over the past five years have more resembled the plot of a bestselling horror novel than the right to due process espoused by the leader of the free world. Yet even the most creative author would have not been able to chart the tangled web of deception and conspiracy that would come to light in this case, involving everything from kidnapping and secret prisons to the torture of young children and backdoor politics that weave between Washington, Islamabad and Kabul.
And in the middle of all of this is a woman. A mother. A teacher. A sister. An Activist. A Daughter.

Dr. Aafia Siddiqui will stand facing life in prison plus ten years on September 23rd…but she will not stand alone.

We will stand with her because she is our sister in faith and humanity.

We will stand with her because we reject the establishment of secret prisons, the trampling of due process, the use of torture and the threatening of innocents unequivocally and in all of their forms.

We will stand with her because we must do so, for it is in the absence of those who would seek justice that injustice, fear mongering and bigotry prevail.
