Congratulations Palestine for UN-Vote

Not sure how much the recent vote in United Nations regarding the elevation of status of Palestine will put a positive impact on the lives of Palestinians especially living in the world’s largest concentration camp, Gaza. But still it is a sign of improvement in international politics that they have elevated the status of Palestine from non-member observer entity” to “non-member observer state,”.

According to reports 138 members voted yes, 9 Zionist pets voted no and 41 abstained from the voting.

We wish best of luck for Palestinians and their cause for freedom and justice. Shame on 9 Zionist pet members for taking side of apartheid, neo-nazism and illegal occupation and thanks to those 138 members who made the right choice.

PPP has disappointed masses, says Aitzaz

ISLAMABAD: President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and leader Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Aitzaz Ahsan has said that PPP has disappointed the nation by not fulfilling its promise with regard to reinstatement of deposed judges and that the struggle of legal fraternity have achieved its objective twice once on July 20, 2007 and second on 18 February 2008 while it would be reached on the verge of success third time soon.

“Our first success was when Supreme Court of Pakistan gave its verdict in support of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary on July 20, 2007 and second when citizens of the country gave its verdict against President Pervez Musharraf and its associates in Feb 18 elections”, he said this while giving interview to Private TV Channel the other day.

“We will win third time Inshaallah and deposed judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary would be reinstated. Our struggle would reach on the verge of success soon”, he said.

The legal fraternity have not stopped anyone to control inflation, skyrocketing prices of commodities, reduce prices of petroleum and eliminate unemployment and poverty but we have suspended our struggle for 42 days sothat problems could not be created for newly elected government, he said.

Government, he said, can solve judiciary issue within three minutes, adding that, deposed judges would be reinstated if Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani issues executive order.

Answering to a question, he said, “I have very good relations with PPP for last 40 years. PPP is my family and no one can break my relations with PPP. I faced enormous difficulties for PPP. I have sought party ticket to contest by elections, which was my right. I have differences with party leadership and every party has differences which speaks beauty of democracy”.

President SCBA Aitzaz Ahsan added that PPP has disappointed the nation by not fulfilling its promise with regard to reinstatement of deposed judges. “The decision to boycott elections was wrong. I was bound to follow decision of Pakistan Bar Council to boycott the elections, as I advised lawyers not to boycott elections”, he remarked.

Before and during Feb 18 elections, he said, the Parliament and government was under control of President Pervez Musharraf therefore the lawyers was against elections.

No constitutional package was tabled before the constitutional committee setup followed by talks between Quaid PML-N Mian Muhammad Nawaz in Dubai for restoration of judiciary, he maintained.

Despite reservation, he said, he had agreed to accept PCO judges on Adhoc basis but government wanted to reinstate deposed judges on Adhoc basis, which created differences.

He said he has always apprised Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari about his stance on restoration of judiciary but he (Zardari) did not agreed on his stance. Chaudhary Aitzaz Ahsan said that personally he is against burning out flags of any country and steps of legal fraternity to burn flags of US during protest demonstration was wrong because it creates differences and judges and lawyers of US supported us a lot.

He appealed lawyers not to burn flags of any country in future. Some foreign hands can try to sabotage movement of lawyers, he warned. Problems would remain stay if the judiciary were not restored. Democracy and country will continue to face consequences till rule of the President, he maintained.

If the PCO judges of Supreme Court could not release their own colleague then what relief and justice they would provide to the nation, he questioned. The country will remain in darkness if there is judiciary comprised on such type of judges, he concluded.
