KARACHI: The trial of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui has taken a bizarre turn when a witness’s testimony came out to be different from the one given by American official Captain Schnieder, reports DawnNews.

Furthermore, an FBI agent testified that they did not find Dr. Aafia’s finger-prints on the rifle.

The US federal court in Manhattan heard Aafia Siddiqui and 5 other witnesses. Dr. Aafia told the court that she is being misrepresented by the prosecutor’s statement regarding the things she has said about America, that only negative thoughts are being portrayed.

According to DawnNews’ correspondent in New York, Masood Haider, the court heard witnesses who saw the incident including an Afghan interpreter, Ahmed Gul who became a green card holder in 2009 and was processed by the American government and now lives in New York. Abdul previously claimed that he saw Dr. Aafia shoot at the US soldiers.

There was also a cross examination of witnesses and forensic experts and FBI. On the second day of the trial, four witnesses came under cross-questioning.

In the previous hearing, Captain Schnieder told the court that Dr. Aafia shot at him while she was on her knees.

But on the second day of the trial, Ahmed Gul told the court that Dr. Aafia was standing when she fired the gun and the gun was pointing at some other official.

The Afghan interpreter also told the court that he has been granted a green card and has been settled in America by the officials who brought him to testify in the trial.

During the hearing, one FBI official told the court that they found Dr. Aafia’s fingerprints on the documents but not on the gun, Masood Haider said.

Dr Aafia’s kidnapping FIR lodged–>The News

Source: http://www.thenews.com.pk/top_story_detail.asp?Id=26092

By Salis bin Perwaiz

KARACHI: The Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station here has registered an FIR for the kidnapping of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, along with her three minor children. The FIR was lodged against personnel of an unidentified law-enforcement agency, and a case was filed on the complaint of Dr Aafia’s sister.

Gulshan-e-Iqbal SHO Rustam Nawaz said they received a complaint from Dr Fauzia Siddiqui in which she stated that her younger sister, Dr Aafia Siddiqui, resident of House No: 140E, Block 7, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, on March 30, 2003, left the house for the Karachi airport, along with her three children, to board a flight to Rawalpindi. She, along with her three children, was kidnapped by a member of an unidentified law-enforcement agency en route to the airport.

SHO Nawaz said the complainant further alleged she had also submitted many applications to police stations concerned as well as government officials, including ministers, but to date no action had taken place nor was it clear which agency had kidnapped her younger sister. Furthermore, subsequently it came to their knowledge that Dr Aafia Siddiqui is in an American jail, facing trial.

SHO Nawaz said the application was forwarded to his seniors and after getting their approval, FIR-773/09 was lodged for the kidnapping of Dr Aafia Siddiqui along with her three minor children against unidentified persons or LEA personnel.

Is that what you call democracy?

It is now crystal clear except for the blind and dumb that the current government is the continuation of US pet dictators government which came into power as a result a deal between PPP and the military establishment (At that time Musharraf,Kiyani,Tariq Majeed and team).

The imposition of governor rule (a civilian martial law) in Punjab and giving all the powers to Musharraf and Zardari’s dear common friend Salman Taseer in order to crush the long march and movement for justice.

But Zardari needs to know that he has comitted a blunder like 3rd November , no matter what he thinks, no matter how much support he is getting from Army and America and no matter how strong he feels he should know that history has seen deepest of falls from the greatest of heights.

Nawaz and Shahbaz should also have learnt the lesson from all this and now instead of playing their hypocritic role in the movement should now sincerely join the cause.

Best of luck to te cause of justice and people working for it.

Dictatorship, feudalism and corrupt mullaiat –>;What! is there any thing else for us????

The impeachment drama to keep people away from the real issues by our corrupt so called representatives is about to enter into the climax(ending will be positive inshaAllah but for that we have to get ready for a long struggle).

The Pakistan Feudal Party (I don’t know why it is still known as People’s Party) Chairman Asif Ali Zardari (his appointment is a classic example of their commitment with democracy, how can a person inherit people’s will?), blessed by Musharraf with NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance to legalize the loot and plunder our so called political and not so political like Rehman Malik etc did during the last few decades) is now staging a drama to give Musharraf a safe exit(What safe exit and to whom? To a killer of thousands and the person who betrayed constituion and the nation!).

The only thing which is creating hurdle is retired general’s will “to serve” his nation more but since the green signal is there from the “masters” of Pakistan so in the new script its hard to fit Musharraf .Our “masters” don’t want Iran type revolution where people got so frustrated with the Shah that they kicked him them-selves and if Musharraf stays for more period and the blood pressure of the masses rise to the threshold level of “enough is enough” then  people will take there future in there hand and topple the current dying system so our “masters” sitting in Washington need a change , a change like Zardari who with his wicked smile believes can fool the whole nation, intellectuals, lawyers, students etc .

Zardari is backed by low lives like Nawaz, Maulana diesel, Asfand Yaar etc to accompany him to achieve the goals for which he cashed the death of his wife (Benazir Bhutto, I don’t know after wasting so much time and elimination of key witnesses and proofs how her death can properly be investigated ?) and soon after the removal of Musharraf the parties in Musharraf camp will join him (you can see it how MQM played a “neutral” role in Sind assembly during the impeachment resolution).

SCBA has increased the deadline to 15 September but I still have doubts that Mr. Zardari will take the risk to restore the independent judges without protecting the NRO, he is not here to protect the rights of people, he has nothing to do with roti, kapra or makaan and all he cares about his greed and lust of power for which he can do any thing.

Sooner or later the nation will realize that the solutions of there problems are not in the hands of the dictators like Musharraf( people are there who have hopes with him, can only regret on this) or feudals like Zardari or corrupt businessmen like Nawaz or killers and looters like Altaf or soulless mullahs like Maulana Fazal ur Rehman , people have to rise for there own country them-selves.

It’s time to rise against the forces of status-quo and work for real social and economic justice in the country.

Go! Status-Quo G0!

All rise!–>by Yousuf Nasim on Dawn Blog

reporters following a comprehensive discussion regarding rising inflation, rule of law and political instability in the country.

Achakzai told reporters that the alliance had agreed to form a committee to work out a procedure by which apex and high court judges who were deposed by President Musharraf on November 3, 2007, might be reinstated. He argued that since Musharraf had openly admitted that his actions had been extra-constitutional there could be no legal justification for stalling the restoration any further.

Imran Khan continued by saying that the delay was nothing more than an attempt to protect the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) from being struck down, thus resurrecting criminal cases against government leaders such as Asif Zardari.

The APDM decided to address the ‘judges’ issue following the resignation of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), a member of the ruling coalition, from the cabinet. PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif chose to take the drastic step after failing to secure a solution to the problem during negotiations with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) who hold a majority of seats in the National Assembly. The resignation of key figures such as Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar has created problems for the new government, which is still struggling to cement its position and quell public concern over food inflation and the deteriorating law and order situation.

Save your judiciary now!—>Emergency mailing list

A high level meeting of Pervez Musharraf, PML-Q led by former Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat and Musharraf’s legal team, led by Sharifuddin Pirzada took place at the President’s house today. A source privy to the meeting informed us about the possible plans to derail the restoration of the judges that were discussed in today’s meeting. Suggestions included having a stay order against the working of the parliament, offering money and black-mailing members of PML-N and PPP (reminder: Faisal Saleh Hayat was a PPP member but joined PML-Q after having his multiple murder and corruption charges dropped). The judges have been promised to be restored by Nawaz Sharif by the 12th and we must actively oppose all possible moves to derail the process.

This is where we need your help. A few emails, sms-es and calls on your part can greatly help Pakistan and further the cause for the restoration of the only independent judiciary of Pakistan.

Is Mr. 10% showing his true colors now? –> Emergency mailing list

Is Mr. 10% showing his true colors now? There was a reason, perhaps, that during Mohtarma’s time this man was never part of the CEC?  He goes to Sector Nine Zero of MQM and starts chanting “Altaf Zardari Bhai Bhai”.

Perhaps they are, brothers, after all. We should have known all along?

MOST IMPORTANTLY Be prepared for the siege on the Army House on the 25th. We need to start preparing for that and I’ll be updating you shortly on that.

Zardari issues ‘charge-sheet’
Snubs Aitzaz; says he is not interested in restoration of personalities

By Ansar Abbasi

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has issued a long charge-sheet against the deposed superior court judges, saying they never came to his rescue and were responsible for his eight years in jail.

In the clearest indication that the PPP may not stand by the Murree Declaration to restore the judges, the PPP leader told his central executive committee in Naudero that he was not interested in the restoration of personalities but wanted a judicial reforms package.

Analysts said things were getting complicated for Zardari, both within the PPP and outside, as he was moving closer to allies of President Musharraf and drifting away from his coalition partner Nawaz Sharif.

As Zardari issued his charge-sheet against the judges, Makhdoom Amin Fahim demanded the disbandment of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians which he heads. Others in the PPP blasted the party leadership’s decision to join hands with the MQM.

On the other hand, the PML-N is determined not to compromise on the issue of restoration of the deposed judges through a resolution in the National Assembly. The party says it seeks strict adherence to the Murree Declaration and would not accept any formula or constitutional amendment that restores all the deposed judges minus chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

“After gaining so much because of the political initiative that Zardari has taken in the recent weeks, the PPP co-chairperson is on the verge of losing all,” a senior PPP leader told this correspondent from Naudero, revealing the situation in the interior Sindh was extremely tense after Zardari’s visit to the MQM headquarters popularly known as Nine Zero.

In a post-dinner gathering of the PPP’s central executive committee, the source said, many PPP leaders minced no words in criticising Zardari’s decision to woo the MQM. PPP MNA Shugufta Jamani and Sethi Ishaq were among those who expressed strong resentment and wondered how the PPP could join hands with the MQM, which was responsible for the killing of PPP workers.

“The Sindhi people have not given a mandate to Zardari to thrust upon them his personal agenda of humiliation in the name of reconciliation,” a PPP leader told The News, adding, “We strongly oppose and condemn the PPP-MQM coalition in Sindh.”

The leader asked: “Who caused the May 12th incident? Who was behind the Oct 18 blast? Who killed Murad Baloch and Munawar Suhrawardy? But you still went to the Nine Zero to express solidarity with the MQM against the wishes of the nation. Now it’s time for us to rethink our support for you, Mr Zardari,” said the source, who sounded quite disturbed.

“There is a wave of anger,” a PPP leader said. The likes of Raja Pervez Ashraf, Shah Mehmud Qureshi, Jahangir Badr, however, showered Zardari with praises and called him a great leader. Badr even crossed all limits by saying that the PPP had become more popular under Zardari.

Zardari, however, defended his party’s rapprochement with the MQM and termed it a sensible political move having far-reaching impact. He said he wanted to open all political avenues for his son, Bilawal, and never liked to see the doors of Nine Zero closed for him. He said the MQM would be forming a government with the PPP.

Aitzaz Ahsan, who sought the restoration of the deposed judges, told the meeting that it would be in the interest of the party to get the judges restored.

Zardari, according to sources, came hard on the issue of the judges’ restoration. According to one source, Zardari snubbed the widely-respected lawyer leader and said he knew the worth of the judges whose restoration was being sought by the lawyers’ community.

Zardari said these were the same judges who had earlier taken oath under the PCO and validated the military rule. Referring to his jail life, a source quoted him as saying that he was let down by these judges, who had even refused to release him on parole to attend the funeral of his nephew. He said he was allowed only a two-hour parole despite Farooq H Naek’s pleading before the same judges.

He said the then Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed had also refused him a parole. He termed the same judiciary biased, which he said was responsible for his eight years in jail. Party sources reported that Asif Ali Zardari was quite emotional while speaking on the judges’ issue. One source said he talked of the restoration of the judges but linked it to a constitutional package. He said the party was interested in the independence of the judiciary and not in personalities.

A party leader said he was disappointed to hear what he termed the charge-sheet issued by the PPP co-chairperson against the deposed judges. According to him, almost 60 per cent of the co-chairman’s speech was on Aitzaz Ahsan and the judges.

While the PPP is clearly seen connecting the judges restoration issue with a constitutional package, the PML-N is determined not to budge from what had been agreed between the two parties in Murree on March 9, 2008.

“We don’t accept the ‘Minus-One Formula’ or any such solution that excludes Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry,” PML-N minister Ahsan Iqbal told this correspondent, adding the “Minus-One Formula” would mean accepting March 9, 2007 Gen Musharraf’s action of suspending chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as legitimate.

Ahsan said as per the Murree Declaration, the deposed judges would be restored through a resolution. Ahsan categorically said that the question of any constitutional amendment for the judges’ restoration did not arise.

Ahsan said the coalition was committed to the Murree Declaration and clarified that the PML-N was not averse to a mutually-agreed constitutional package having no link with the restoration of the judges.

APDM still not able to take a decision on General Selections 2008—> God Knows when our politicians will be able to use their heads properly.

The press conference by the “leadership” of APDM and the reports by the media shows that the only Musharraf opposition alliance is still not decicive on the issues of dictator’s PCO elections which we call “General Selection”.

According to the reports PML-N and ANP are ready to take part in the elections by having a point of view that they should not leave the battle field open for the Dictator Musharraf’s supported parties and on the other hand Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI),Jamat e Islame and Mehmood Khan Achakzai are with the lawyers point of view that by taking part in the elections they will provide the legal support for the General(R) and Dictator(Not-R) Musharraf’s illegal actions of November 3 2007 and onwards.

United4Justice:   PML-N and ANP its time to make the right decision, boycott the elections 2008 and show your commitment for the cause of justice.
