One of the best speeches in the history of National Assembly of Pakistan. In this Imran Khan covered topics ranging from war, economic losses, humanitarian losses, talks and blocking NATO supplies on 20th November.
It seems, Karachi will still need to wait for a long time for any change. Karachi is again seeing rigged elections or no elections at all in many areas. There are reports of violence in areas like NA-255 and no elections in NA-250 and other parts of Karachi.
My experience as a voter at NA256-Meridian Grammar School polling station: Delayed start of voting. People with MQM badges openly moving in the polling station and making sure that their known voters get the chance out of turn for casting their votes while others get frustrated in heat. This will discourage new voters which are more likely to cast their vote for PTI.
Also inside polling station they are taking cards of old people and first timers to cast their votes. Those who knew what they are doing resisted but many dont even know what is happening. If this is happening in educated areas then forget about other areas.
MQM is a product of establishment and if America wants MQM so establishment (Army, rangers etc) will keep a blind on what ever MQM does.
Despite all this people should come forward and vote! Vote PTI in Karachi to show you are not sheeple.
Malik Riaz issue is a big test for the people of Pakistan especially those who are justice loving to prove their existence as human beings not as insects or blind sheep. Pakistan military and feudal-corporatist-extortionist political ruling elite thinks that we all are insects and blind sheep who can be easily crushed or can be taken any where.
There are reports that government wants to send a reference against Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry like Musharraf did in 2007. The move will give enough space for the government to waste time till the next elections and CJ’s 2013 retirement.
We need to decide now that what sort of life we want to give to our future generations. Are we ready to give a life of slaves to our future generations? Are we ready to surrender the rights of our future generations?
As John F. Kennedy said, “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. “
It seems government, military and allies want people who wan a system based on justice to go for the violent option. I think establishment and government want people to go for a French type revolution in Pakistan.
We, the civil society of Pakistan, demand Election Commission and Supreme Court to make sure that every Pakistani who wants to exercise his/her democratic right to vote should be facilitated.
Therefore, we demand that new elections should be based on NADRA IDENTITY CARDS and PAKISTAN ORIGIN CARD.
If democracy is the name of giving people the right to choose then there should be minimum hurdles in expressing the choice.
Current registrations with Election Commission of Pakistan will not guarantee the registration of every eligible voter.
NADRA’s machine readable cards will also help in ensuring transparency.
We also demand Election Commission and Supreme Court to facilitate Overseas Pakistanis especially students by allowing them to cast their votes either in embassy or online.
